  1. Maybe y’all in the comments would be less mad if you actually read the article and looked at the facts of the situation instead of skimming a headline and posting your kneejerk reaction. The food was not spoiled, as anyone who was actually there can tell you. Also, no ethical consumption under capitalism <3

  2. Absolutely right. I work for Kroger and they’re the same across the board at Fred Meyer and QFC, anti-homeless. This is what Marx predicted in terms of overproduction. Thanks for writing about this in these trying times. All the minimum wage who work for Kroger despise corporate and can’t wait for their downfall. Solidarity from WA!

  3. @tomar I think leaving mean comments on an article is unproductive but you can go write your own opinion piece if you feel that strongly

  4. So well articulated! As a student at LC I think that starting a conversation around where the pio brings students is a really important one. (my vote is for Trader Joe’s of course) But also the business that we as a student body bring to that Freddie’s is a noticeable one and it would push the extent to which the events during the freeze were unacceptable.

  5. A very well written and balanced piece for those who read it. I’d respectfully advise people to read the article before commenting their gut reactions. Also, if you are looking for specific details not mentioned in this piece, you may have to look for a different article. The author did comment on the state of the food when it was dumped. It’s not fair to require that the opinions writer tell you what the temp of the food was in 10 minute increments.

  6. I think this is a great article and shows how little fred meyer and PPB actually care about the people that live in Portland. dont listen to the haters <3

  7. And if they had donated the food and someone got sick you’d write a hate article about it. The company didn’t want to risk any potential illnesses. You stated in the article that an opinion that it was u likely without any facts to base this on. What time did they turn off? What was the temp per 10 min increments on each piece of food? When was the backup generator turned on? Just to write an article about how you hate capitalism and police…. slow clap.
If you want to chase something that we all hate go after big pharma.

  8. The food was spoiled! The meat was rotten! The frozen food had thawed out and was refrozen.
It would have been a health hazard for consumption!

Get the facts before you write stupid stories!
