Letters to the Editor
Any member of the LC community may submit a letter to the editor to The Mossy Log, although it is up to the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief whether or not The Mossy Log will publish the Letter to the Editor.
Letters to the Editor must not exceed 300 words. The author may gather signatures from student organizations or clubs for their Letter to the Editor, after writing the initial draft and sharing it with all co-signers. No Letter to the Editor can have more than five signatures. The Mossy Log is not responsible for the failure of the author to allow proper time for the letter to be read by its cosigners before publication.
Once the article is submitted for editorial review, it is up to the discretion of the Opinions section editor(s), Copy Chief, Managing Editor and Editor-in-Chief to make necessary grammatical and structural edits and to adjust the article as needed. As with all opinion articles, Letters to the Editor must be factual and editors must be able to independently verify all statements.
Please send Letter to the Editor submissions directly to mossylog@lclark.edu.
Story Ideas & Tips
Is there a story that The Mossy Log should be reporting on? Do you have information that the Lewis & Clark community should know? This is the place to offer your story idea or tip.
Submitting a strong story idea or tip requires some planning. Speculation, rumors and private conversations are not enough to produce a publishable story. Hard evidence, often documentation, is a crucial component of all Mossy Log reporting. Specificity, not inexactness, is the key to a successful story idea or tip. We prefer submissions that impact the Lewis & Clark community as a whole, not small groups within it.
Please do not submit general comments, criticism or press releases through this form. General messages may be sent to mossylog@lclark.edu.
Submissions will be sent directly to the editor-in-chief and managing editor.
