The current state of politics offers little substance and lots of absurdity for the average denizen. Reading my New York Times notifications feels like skimming descriptions of scrapped “Veep” episodes, especially when headlines range from “Trump is Going Woke” to “Defense Agency Pauses Celebrations of Martin Luther King’s Birthday, Women’s History Month and Others.” If you are looking for a scathing critique of Republican Congressional strategy or in-depth analysis of Trump’s cabinet picks, you have come to the wrong place. I will save that for the folks in the opinion section.
However, in the Valentine’s Day spirit, I think we can find some joy from the figures making decisions in the big leagues, no matter which side of the aisle you come from. Because there is one thing I know we can agree on as a nation: some politicians are, in fact, sexier than others.
Without further ado, here is a non-exhaustive list of the hottest politicians in America today. Because, if we are honest, in times like these, what we really need is some good old fashioned objectification.
Sen. Katie Britt (R-Ala.)
In 2023, the Alabama Republican became the youngest woman elected to the U.S. Senate. Britt’s political strategy may not be the classiest but that side part absolutely is. If anything, that woman knows how to work a power look, and nothing says “I’m here to legislate (or at least grandstand)” like a perfectly tailored red dress.
Britt reminds me of a Southern mom who runs the neighborhood Homeowners’ Association with an iron fisted grit rivaling Mussolini’s, and honestly, I respect the commitment. The blowout? Bouncy. The heels? Sensible but firm, much like her stance on God and gas prices. Love her or hate her, Britt is girlbossing her way through the Senate, one aggressively patriotic outfit at a time. Babe alert!
Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.)
Booker has been a senator for the state of New Jersey since 2013. Though he has been a champion for Democratic and progressive politics throughout his career, that is not why he makes this list. Booker’s charm is undeniable — his smooth charisma, deep voice and stunning smile are irrevocably hot. The man radiates confidence, and I truly admire his commitment to making male pattern baldness sexy. Plus, let us not forget: he once dated Rosario Dawson. That alone should tell you something.
But Booker’s appeal is not just about the looks — his enthusiasm for public service only adds to his beguile. There is something undeniably attractive about a man who can talk about criminal justice reform with the same fervor most people reserve for their favorite sports team. He has that “guy you bring home to meet your parents” energy, and in the on-fire garbage can of American politics, that is a rare find.
Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-Wa.)
Our gal from across the Washington border is already leaving her mark on local and national-level policy. Gluesenkamp Perez has represented Washington’s third district (including Vancouver) since 2022, a victory that the Seattle Times called “the most stunning political upset in the country this year.”
Gluesenkamp Perez looks just as good in auto mechanic coveralls as she does a suit, has a dog named Uma Furman and a strong emphasis on fighting political extremism. She is a bipartisan baddie and in my humble political science-major opinion, nothing screams sex appeal like co-sponsoring the renewal of the National Landslide Preparedness Act. With her effortlessly cool Pacific Northwest vibe, rugged outdoorsy aesthetic and the kind of sharp, no-nonsense gaze that could cut through congressional gridlock, Gluesenkamp Perez proves that competence and killer bangs are a dangerously attractive combination, even though she went to Reed.
Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio)
Guys, hear me out. He may be 57-years-old but this newly-appointed Republican Ohio senator is an all American hot piece of ass. He has had some of my favorite political controversies this century, including requesting the use of National Cash Register’s private jet to attend the 2004 Alamo Bowl and taking Ohio lobbyists on a Memorial Day fishing trip in the midst of a budget debate they had a stake in.
But let us not overlook the obvious, with his chiseled jawline, salt and pepper hair and that quintessential Midwestern charm, Husted brings a rugged allure to the Senate floor. The former college football player is serving classic dad-on-a-boat verve — polished, confident and rebellious enough to keep things interesting. I will holler at that any day of the week.
If you have a problem with Gavin Newsom not appearing on this list, take your normie attitude back to POLS 103. God bless America and the hot people it platforms.
