  1. This is a very ill informed article about a topic that you do not have to license, knowledge, or experience to write about. Decoding a topic like this, especially in a foreign country and culture, requires extensive research and that was not put into this article. I would strongly suggest that you rethink posting something like this, with this much weight to it, to an American audience. You’re perpetuating the stereotype that Black and Brown men are dangerous, while not considering the “piropos” that happen in your own country to the same degree. Thankfully you and people whom you have interviewed have not encountered that in the United States; however, that is more a reflection on your privileged status in the US than it is a reflection on Dominican culture. Black women are statistically more likely be subjected to psychological abuse—including humiliation, insults, name-calling, coercive control, and CATCALLING—than any other racial group of women overall on a global scale. So, while the white women who feel threatened in that program may be uncomfortable, is it incorrect to say that they are “attacked” at a higher rate. Keep in mind they also get to go back home and feel safe in a couple months, many women don’t feel safe in any country. Maybe next time report about topics that are more familiar to you, like the night life or the beaches. I would love to see you write about your actual experiences.
